A is an unreleased extended play by American singer-songwriter SZA that was reported, by the artist, to have been released before her second studio album, SOS. It was supposed to be released through as a "little project" Top Dawg and RCA.[citation needed] A was to be the final piece of the "SZA" trilogy alongside extended plays S and Z, which are both already released.
TDE countered SZA's claims of the imminent release of the project, stating that if the record label itself does not provide a valid date of release, it is not official.[citation needed]
Background[]
Throughout the year of 2015, SZA made various posts containing snippets from unreleased songs that were suspected to be apart of a new album. Some of the snippets, ranging from: "Drew Barrymore," "The Weekend," and "Go Gina" were confirmed to be tracks on the debut studio album, Ctrl, which was originally titled "A". The other shown snippets, such as "Cody's Kitchen Party," "Anything (Outro)," and "Free Dumb" did not make an appearance on the album, and have been thought to be included in a different album/extended play or a deluxe edition.
Some tracks, like "Percolator," "Tread Carefully," and "Jodie" have made an appearance in the reissue of Ctrl. An unreleased song, "Bikini Bottom," was meant to appear on the aforementioned reissue, but could not be released due to a digital storage failure that caused the sessions of the song vanish unexpectedly. SZA stated she would likely record the song again due to her "singing it too much" to not release it, but did not make the reissued track list.
Track listing[]
The official track listing for A was never publicly disclosed and has been speculated to have consisted of unreleased songs that were previewed as snippets on SZA's varying social media accounts.
